Losail International Circuit in Qatar is 5380 m long, boasting of a main straight of 1068 m. The circuit is surrounded by artificial grass meant to protect the racing surface from the abrasive sand in the surrounding deserts. Losail Circuit was inaugurated in 2004 and it added permanent outdoor lights on 2007, allowing it to host night races and making it the biggest outdoor illuminated sports facility at the time. Losail hosts the Qatar Motorcycling Grand Prix yearly.
