The Netherlands, France and Portugal will implement the VAR in official matches from the 2018/19 season
The Eredivisie (the Dutch league) will be the first European league to incorporate the video assistant for the referee (VAR), which one are generating so many discussions in the world of the football.
Mike van der Roest, director of the project for the incorporation of the video in Holland, has confirmed the Federation plans to incorporate the VAR from the 2018/19 season.
The French Professional Football League (LFP) has joined the initiative as well and recently approved the introduction of this system in the first division promotion games at the end of May.
Also the Portuguese Football Federation has informed it will be one of the first competitions in Portugal, which will be played with the help of the video assistant referee. The first match will be played with this system in the Jamor Sports Complex, where will face Vitoria de Guimarães and Benfica.
This news is clearly show us, the VAR system is becoming prevalent in all countries and in a few years will be a reality throughout Europe, in Spain are already taking steps for its implementation, as has been stated by the president Ángel María Villar of the Royal Football Federation.
This will be the way to avoid scandals like the ghost goals and the goals outside the game, all these things are increasing complaints day after day. With this system will avoid many controversies and legality will be absolute in these games.
